As a Controller, your main responsibilities will include overseeing a team of four, managing the general ledger, financial reporting, job cost control, customer invoicing, accounts receivable and payable, and payroll management.
Responsibilities:
General:
Supervise the accounting team handling payroll, accounts receivable and payable, and operational support.
Manage job cost and WIP reporting.
Process contract billings and handle AR and collection communications.
Perform daily and monthly bank account reconciliations.
Ensure subcontractor compliance and suggest process improvements and internal controls.
Develop financial and business practice policies and procedures.
Assist CFO with:
Preparing, generating, and reviewing monthly and annual financial reports.
Compiling quarterly and monthly sales and use tax returns.
Completing external financial statements under US GAAP.
Managing the annual CPA review and preparing necessary forms and documents.
Analyzing balance sheet and income statement metrics and trends.
Budgeting, variance analysis, and month-end closing processes.
Planning functions, including budgeting and forecasting, and conducting account analysis as needed.
Operations Support:
Monitor job cost and performance, reporting anomalies to CFO and project managers.
Support project managers with job reporting, change order tracking, and contract management.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in construction accounting and one year at the controller level.
Bachelor's or Graduate's Degree in accounting, business, or business administration preferred.
Proficiency in budget planning, balance sheets, and month-end close practices.
Skilled in general ledger reconciliation and account analysis.
Experience in WIP reporting and analysis, preferably with Trimble Viewpoint Vista software.
Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
Demonstrated leadership skills to drive continuous improvement.
Solid critical thinking and judgment for decision-making.
Successful experience collaborating with team members and departments.
